We are an Acts 1:8 church because our mission focus embraces our Jerusalem, Lincoln County; our Judea, the state of North Carolina; our Samaria, the U.S.A. and Canada, and the ends of the earth. New mission journeys and projects are always being planned by our Missions Committee to reach those around the world that don’t know Jesus Christ and his message of hope and salvation.
Whether you are thinking about going on a one week mission journey in North America or traveling for an extended journey to another country, the process is the same for all. We must first understand that God has called each of us to live our lives on-mission. The next step is to respond with a willingness to be used of God which may mean going wherever He chooses to send you. It is with a willing heart that God makes His specific plans for us clear. The whole process then comes down to a matter of obedience.
If you’ve not yet participated in a mission trip, you are encouraged to prayerfully consider changing your Great Commission status within the next year. Our goal is that everyone at DBC become obedient to the Great Commission calling on their life. The question is not IF but WHERE. Our Mission Committee is already planning a number of mission journeys for 2009 and further out. Whether we’re participating in Operation in as Much in our community, traveling to Washington DC to help with a new church plant, ministering to children in Kentucky, or working with IMB missionaries in Argentina, we are called by our King to make a difference.
